Ma's people come west to TX over the generations, too, yes? Zoom out to a geological timeline and it's the moving that stands out more than the places they (we?) stopped.

I would run thru a wall for Coach Walz - and Kamala. I too have rellies in the heartland, mainly Minnesota & North Dakota. We dont talk politics because, well, you know.

The burst of energy inspired by the change at the top of the ticket is infectuous. Haven't felt this good about the American Politic since 2008.

Thanks for sharing your family's journey, Dan. Lunch soon!

I like him too! Helluva turnaround while we were back in the States. Odd, though, to hear the celebration of Staying Home as we got on a plane to NZ... Yeah man, let's hang in Welly soon!

Stayed in Chadron for three days when our car needed a new tire and it had to be ordered. Like you, we thought about what it would be like to stay. I could read your love of the heartland between the lines.

Love your writing. It hits the mark every time.

Thanks, Rachel! I do think I lived in the Sandhills in another life. Why not this one? :)
